I'm studying in the library now...and this is the student lounge where I usually study for most of the time. I love looking through this window...observing the simple sunshine on the green grass field..
Sometimes people just come in to sleep on those couches, and get some sunshine...
Sometimes u can see people playing frisby, or walking cute dogs, or couples hugging on the grass...
Just to share with u all..what I have been staring at for most of my time here.
I wonder what it looks like during winter time..with snow topping the trees and covering the field..
Ok back to studying. Jia you guys!! Relax for a few minutes every now and then while u're mugging hard for exams!! It helps to clear up ur mind..

I'm sorry for not updating this blog..
For those of you who still checks it now..haha, thanks alot for being concerned abt me..
My exams are coming soon ( in 2 weeks time) ..have been busy studying, submitting assignments and papers, and going to social events ..so my schedule is super packed all the way until Jan next year..
Haha there have been so many things which happened since my last blog, don't know which to start with. I have a feeling that this entry is going to be so not interesting lol..here's the regurgitation of what i've done..
1. went to micro.soft tour yesterday (this was amazing - get to see how a futuristic house looks like - all the inventions u could think of in a movie abt the future is THERE)[for those who donno, seattle is the base for microsoft..bill gates lives here)
2. went to my hosts house for dinner yesterday
3. went to a vietnamese lawyer dim sum event this morning..Got an invitation from a vietnamese american classmate, so decided to just go and socialise and get free dim sum, which was my actual intention hehe. Din really socialise that much cos din have much to tok abt to viet lawyers..but the dim sum is chinese style and it's super gd so i just eat and eat and it was a worth it trip since the lawyers at our table just called for a thousand plates of dim sum...And also went for an under ground tour with some Asian lawyers from all over America (they have this convention thing going in Seattle now..like a networking session for all asian lawyers in USA to get tger and help each other out..)
4. went to kbox (LOL yes KBOX...not the same company but the same idea = karaoke!! full of chinese songs)
5. went to the Flight museum...(millions of real planes on exhibit for plane lovers!! From WWI till now.. and get to go up the Air Force 1 which the Presidents of US used before) (for those who donno, seattle is the origin of boeing too..and airplane manufaturing..)
6. Went for a walk at Greenlake park with Joyce on a Sunday morning (cant rmb when LOL) ...the lake is quite big..and very beautiful, with nice red/orange autumn trees surrounding it, and clear still water..It's a place for joggers with their dogs/baby trolleys.. and we went to have super good hot chocolate at a famous place for chocolate nearby the park..Haha I sort of enjoyed this peaceful and beautiful morning walk.
7. went to this lawyers networking dinner at some law firm in downtown on Thursday. I just followed some of my friends there, wasnt even invited, and showed up in jeans and sports shoes when everyone was in suits/formal wear. And I realise the firm is founded by Bill Gates' father when I got there..LOL. So i just concentrated on eating all the food..talked to some lawyers who are really friendly. Haha i realise the law firms in Seattle has the same characteristic in Sg - situated in downtown in some high rise building with a super beautiful night view of the ci.ty through. tall windows ...

That's abt it..gotta go back and study...
Haha you must be wondering why I'm so hardworking since I just need to pass right?
i have been thinking about it too..and came up with some conclusions - I dont want myself to spend so much money here just playing, eating and paying rent and learnt nothing in fact - the whole point of coming to the US and not some slack place like Denmark is to study..and learn about American law for much cheaper tuition fees...so at least I must make some sense out of the classes I'm taking...So that I would at least gain something intellectually before I go back Sg..

Sometimes I wonder whether there is really a god or some angel that's secretly guarding me all along...or whether I'm plain lucky, to keep meeting people who can help me in one way or another..

I am so thankful to have my hosts who picked me up at the airport when I arrived in Seattle in a blur mode after 20 plus hours of flight, alone, tired, and feeling strange to the place. They provided me with a homely welcoming place and nice food and helped me moved in to my apartment and gave me cutlery, blankets, tables, chairs and lamp..
I'm thankful for meeting AJ at my hosts' house and having late night talks with her, feeling that I have met a nice friend even on the first week of my arrival..she brought me around the place and even drew carefully on a big map to get me orientated to the school area..
I'm thankful for meeting my unnie in school who keeps me cheered up every single day. Even when i'm frequently tired and sometimes whiny she would always comfort me and tell me everything is gonna be fine.
I'm thankful for meeting Lauren who helped me with studying law in the American way and send me her case briefs unselfishly and without me requesting them and helps me with my cover letter and invites me frequently out for meals and tells me abt America etc...
I'm thankful for meeting Peter who does the same as Lauren in a guy's way..
I'm thankful for meeting Michiko who guided my on studying and shared with me her notes..
I'm thankful for meeting my neighbour who helped me pick up my lost student ID and returned to me the other day..
I'm thankful for meeting another neighbour who helped me pick up my lost keys to mailbox in the laundrey on another day (i'm always so blur and keep losing things!)

and I'm thankful for meeting all the friends I have here..who made me feel that I'm not alone in a foreign land.

My Halloween

My Halloween is nothing happening. I didn't go to a party nor did I buy any fancy costume. But it was a lot of fun! I had my friends from law sch (from Taiwan, China and Korea) over to my house for home cooked food. I usually don't cook elaborate stuff for myself but when friends come over I would be super excited to cook something special.
So I engaged in some crazy cooking for two days - lunch, dinner, breakfast, lunch, dinner...since they stayed over at my house on Halloween night.

Here're some of them: Cauliflower in Oyster sauce; brinjal; stewed chicken; and tofu!!

On Halloween night my friends are supposed to go to their parties. Actually I had two party invitations. But since I got no costume and I hate super crowded liquor filled smokey events, I decided to stay at home. So when my friends heard that I'm staying at home, they decided to stay at home with me..so we ended up being 4 '宅女's. I felt so guilty so I decided to go walk walk on the streets...my neighbour told me there's a long street called 'broadway' here which would be filled with halloween people wearing fancy costumes walking around..so we decided to head towards there at 10pm..haha. It was not a wasted trip! We see all sorts of costumes on the bus there and when we reach there the entire place was filled with cosplay people....we were the only abnormal ones in normal clothes. T_T Some of the costumes which really amazed me are - gorilla, construction worker men, wonder woman, tigger, lion, joker (from batman!), priests, fairies, Japanese maids and some self-made costumes which me and my friends kept wondering what that person was trying to be LOL. I was really an eye-opener to see these people's fashion parade..and the spirit of halloween is to be as crazy and as different as possible. On the bus the halloween people just came up and ask all the others on the bus 'so what are u suppose to be??' haha it's so random but crazily fun.
I guess this would be more exciting than going to a party.. haha..
I managed to try out some costumes in a halloween shop..but since it was $65 each i decided not to buy them..-___-''
At least I tried!

My fav costume - wonder woman!

And some donno wad princess costume hehe..

That's all for my not so happening but satisfactory halloween..at least I wasnt lonely, and was so grateful for my friends' company..we watched Charlie and the Chocolate factory tger for the rest of the night..:)
