Maybe the reason why I am still feeling emotionally strong and stable up till now is I know that people back home are always there supporting me.
It's my second day in Seattle! Went to open a bank account in the morning and got a USA phone no. I'm not going to tell you all my USA no. cuz u can always sms me via the sg no. Anyway the sim card has to come with a phone so I got a nokia phone for no reason since I'm not going to use it. It's going to cost me 15cents USD per sms so it's quite expensive. T-T And if pple are calling me I have to pay too. Today somebody called me on my phone and I only called for around 3 min the most, and realised that I just spend 50 cents USD for receiving the call. OMG it's so expensive. But if u have emergency emotional crisis and miss me like mad please email me and I'll give u my USA no. LOLLL.
I had a walk around my school district today. The place is very 热闹with lotsa asian restaurants. So even if there're only 2 chinese restaurants I can still survive with the dozens of Jap, Korean, Viet, Thai restaurants and I'll never resort to ang moh food until I feel like I need to get more calories to burn. Haha..Anyway there're so many Asians around my school district! I met two exchange students (from HK and Korea) today and we exchanged no.s and they seem very nice! Haha I guess I can make friends pretty fast and I'm trying to be as socialble as possible. Orientation is on thursday and hopefully I can meet more nice people.
I took a look at my law school :

and my apartment which I'm going to rent. It's really UNFURNISHED and it looks like that:

But I'm already grateful that I got a place to stay. Now I finally understand what Audrey (my law sch fren doing exchange in Washington D.C.) meant when she says she's happy that she's got a roof over her head from the start because there're so many homeless people in the USA. I went with my hosts to a 'feed the homeless' session organised by their church at night. It was a great experience. It is held at downtown seattle, under this expressway (bridge) and inside an enclosed area with benches around. Temporary tables are set up and each person coming is supposed to bring some food. My hosts brought some cheese. When I got there there're already more than 100 people queueing up outside the fence. I was totally shocked at seeing so many homeless people (or people who seem poor enough to not being able to afford a meal) lining up and they're all staring at me. T-T The people are mostly whites and some blacks. The food is super good - beef spagetti, cheese, salad, fruits, sauces, bread, drinks all for free. If u get this kinda 'buffet' in Sg it will cost at least $15 I guess. There werent many people helping out so I gotta give them a hand - I'm the 'cheese girl' haha..distributing the cheese (like the '2nd station') after they took their spagetti. It was really an eye opener cos when the people come to you they'll be like 'God bless', 'Thank you mam', 'can I have some more please cos of dah dah dah' . One guy came up to me and said 'arent you supposed to have school?' LOL I guess that cuz I'm the only young person among all the helpers. Anyway the queue keeps getting longer and longer and pple always want a second serving. I was so scared that my cheese will run out (and then get beaten up by those pple LOL)! But luckily in the end the spagetti ran out first so they don't have to come to my cheese stage. Haha it's such an exciting experience! Even though I'm not religious I still felt very happy to have helped those people. Something which surprised me even more was the organiser (some old jap american woman) is doing this work voluntarily 4 days per week - meaning that the homeless pple get fed almost 4 out of 7 days per week. So she contacts all the Churches in Seattle and each church is supposed to be in charge of one or two days a month for the food. I don't think they have such generous gestures in Singapore! I really wanted to take some pics of this but I was too paiseh to act like a tourist when everyone was busy helping (and also scared those homeless people may come and beat me up cos they look v rugged hehe).
Alright. That's all for today. Not much travelling yet. :D
PS: I'm still in the 'oh my god i'm in seattle mood' every now and then ..haha still cant believe it..

Love,
