Aloha!!
How are u guys doing in sch? (or at work?) Hope everything is going smooth at home! If you need somebody to talk to, feel free to email me!

Yesterday I went to buy a mattress and a spring box for 216USD (inclusive of delivery)..haha the the mattress is super good..thick and firm and spongy..and got 10 yrs of warranty, made in England..Hopefully i can fake some gd price and sell it off before i go back to sg. Then i went to Target (this big superstore) to get some bedding stuff..
As for the rest of my yesterday, I spent it having a great chat with my hosts. They told me a lot of things about being Japanese Americans. Like how they were ill treated during WWII, and their sentiments being an Asian American in general. Haha it's really interesting to hear these stories..about how Asians were born in the USA but were treated as if they're foreign, and should not belong to this land. My hosts were sent to the internment camps during the peal harbor days, for around 3-4 years, and lived in barracks with terrible living conditions, guarded by soldiers with guns..like they were in prison! Then when they got out of the camps, they couldn't find a job cuz they're japanese, and couldnt even go to the public swimming to swim cuz at that time only whites are allowed. I guess it has been a tough time before they were accepted in this society. We also talked about American politics, like the recent election. My hosts are enthu supporters of Obama! haha they donated qutie a lot to his campaign. And the phone is ringing all day asking them to donate more LOL.
Anyway my hosts tasted my herbal chicken soup and they liked it alot. Ojisan had two big bowls of it. I was as happy as da chang jin..LOL..
Well, pictures speak more than words:

This is where I'm currently staying right now- Lake City. I love the wide roads with not many cars kinda feeling here.
Went to a supermarket and saw these doughnuts selling for 3for$1!!

Anyway I went to the supermarket to get some peaches cos I was too paiseh to eat my hosts' peaches. U noe, Americans get everything by ONE, meaning they don't buy tomatoes/peaches whatever in packets.
Walked pass this sex shop while walking back..this pic is for those who're interested LOL. U noe i SCRAMMED after taking e pic cos the shop looks scary! The mannequins are just EEEeeerie..

Today was just a plain day of orientation. Spend my morning at this huge hall where all the international students sat there trying to interact with each other, listening to talks and eating breakfast and lunch..GAH there was no ang moh at my table..not that I'm superficial and only like ang mohs but i just got this natural instinct to talk to somebody who doesnt look look the same as me. I was so disappointed when all the pple at my table were asian..they were from china, HK, taiwan, korea, japan, india.
HAIZ. Din even bother to take a pic with them LOL. Anyway here's some pics I took during the campus tour.
In front of the Statue of George Washington..the first president of the USA.
In front of the Suzallo Library..It's like the Central library in NUS ( but not physically) and inside it looks like this:

The library is much longer than this..i was just standing in front of the first 3 benches. Anyway doesnt it remind u of the harry potter hall??

All the trees in this pic will turn into pink fluffy balls in Spring next year!
Click on this pic to see clearer..behind the fountain u can seen Mt Rainier. A super nice snow mountain, which I'm definitely going to conquer soon. Anyway I realised that Seattle is the perfect place to go for hiking, skiiing, camping, with beautiful landscapes. I'm so loving it here!
Ducks in the fountain!

This is my host family's neighbourhood..it's quiet and peaceful..and I love this kinda feeling..

And this is where I'm currently staying- my hosts' house. Small and simple but cosy :)
Anyway I was rushing home today to cook for them. We had fried rice - kimchi+chicken+peas+egg..and they super loved it. HAHA i felt so satisfied with my culinary skills LOL. At least some people know how to appreciate it.

Tmr I'm getting my keys to my new apartment. Moving in to it soon within two days time.
Oh yea I'm going for a Seattle downtown tour tmr. So there're gonna be more pics!
I must remember to take a pic with my hosts..thanks for reminding me ahbu!
Okie that's all for today's post. Hope i din tire u out with this long post. :s

Jia you with whatever you're doing!
Love,
